On ‘Acting’

“Do we want actors to inhabit roles and disappear, or do we want to see them act?”

Keira Knightley seems to be the sort of actor you love, hate, or don’t think is a real actor.

I personally like her; particularly in Atonement and Pride and Prejudice. But I just read an intriguing article from Oh Comely magazine’s blog, which doesn’t seem to know what to make of her, and raises some interesting questions. The article is reviewing ‘A Dangerous Method’ which is currently being screened as part of the BFI London Film Festival … the film is based on Christopher Hampton’s play of the same title, and starts Michael Fassbender as Carl Jung, and Vigo Mortensen as Sigmund Freud …  I look forward to seeing it whenever it appears on general release, and will try to reserve judgement till then.
