Winter Workshopping

As we’ve established, Acting is one of those professions where you never finish your training. And unlike other people who have to go to conferences in Coventry on various dull and technical sounding subjects; we get to do cool workshops, and classes … Hoorah!

At the moment there’s a couple to consider:

In December, The Corn Exchange are running a workshop in Ensemble Improvisation and Commedia dell’Arte from the 12th – 15th for €150. If you’re interested,  send an email with an update of recent work to cornworkshops@gmail.com. Closing date for applications is Wed 30 Nov 2011, and successful applicants will be told by Monday December 5th. (At the moment the details are only on their Facebook page not their website…sneeky!)

In January, Blue Raincoat are running a Theatre Academy in Sligo. Their Voice workshop runs from the 4th – 8th, and the Movement workshops run from 9th – 13th, and 16th – 20th. Individual workshops are €40, and there is subsistence available for travel and accommodation. Theatre Artists will be invited to take part on the basis of a letter of introduction and subsequent meeting/ telephone conversation. Head to the Blue Raincoat website for more information.

Also in January, The Abbey‘s Voice Director Andrea Ainsworth, is running a Voice and Text workshop on Saturday 14th. It includes a two-hour workshop, lunch and a ticket to the matinée of The Government Inspector for €45. Places can be booked through the Box Office … call (01) 87 87 222.

I’ll keep an ear out for more … if you hear of any through the grapevine please let us know. Thanks a bundle.
